I recently had a discussion in which a person in my life who hurt my feelings a bit...I think sometimes it can be better to let people know how you feel instead of tucking it under the rug...Other times, not so much...Pick your battles! This time I decided to let my feelings be known.
This is resolved now but here is a little gem that came into my life...This person said to me..I didn't do it "ON PURPOSE"! And it HIT ME---- and I said, "YOUR RIGHT! exactly...I wish you had "on purpose" chose to think about me before you spoke..." sometimes I think we need to be more aware of how our decisions or words can effect others before we leap... We need to choose or purposely put ourselves in an other's shoes before we "react"...I need to work on this as well do you?...Just some food for Thought! :) I love moments like this...Lightbulb ON!

ELIJAH and "Enough"
LIFECHURCH.TV just finished a series on Elijah and I loved it....Check it out!!! This final week of the series Craig Groeschel was talking about the subject of "depression" and it rocked the house. My favorite "take away" from week four is that GOD IS AND WILL BE ENOUGH.
( Here is my two cents; okay maybe 1 cent LOL!) How many times do we try to "stuff" ourselves and fill the void? Can you say "All the time"...Examples; All you can eat buffet...All night marathon TV...Drink till you drop...Noise overload...Things Overload....Schedule overload...Oprah Overload...Sex Overload...Supersize it!!...Dream House..."Super Kid" activities....and on and on. ...I think I could short circuit just thinking about it all!!!! ZZZZZZZZZZZAP!
Have you ever seen the Monty Python Movie where the person says.."If I have one more thing to eat, I will explode." so they eat or "stuff" and BURST into a million pieces. Or can you hear...Bill Cosby in "Himself" doing an impression of his wife..."I HAVE HAD ENOUGH" (before the beatings begin LOL!) We need to say this more often about our own lives...
In this super sensationalized culture we are "stuffing" ourselves everyday searching for ways to fill the Gap with Crap. I feel like God is sitting there in the middle of the "NOISE" saying (my own version) "look you blockheads...I AM AND WILL BE ENOUGH!"
Do you really think God is "ENOUGH"?

True Colors

Man... Cindy L. hit the jackpot when she sang this song in the 80's. It is a song that I think will be around for a long time and will probably outlast me. Why? I would have to say it is the simple words of "true colors" which is now used in every day lingo. I would relate the word "MOTIVE" to "true colors". I was watching Joyce Meyer yesterday and she said that God cares about your motive more than your actions.... SO TRUE! I have to say that ...I even care about "the motive" or the "why" more than the surface "do" in my own relationships.
I have had relationships in the past that seem great from the surface but once you sink deeper the motives are a mess and mostly life or "truth" intervened and we went our separate ways...AMEN! Other relationships...the "True Colors" remain...YAY! Don't get me wrong NO ONE is perfect (me..numero uno)....but the WHY we do something REALLY will define us.
People will eventually SEE under the outer shell and True Colors always shine through....So do a "Motive CHECK" before you speak, say yes, invest, confide...whatever...it might change everything!

Today, I looked at an expiration date on a Gatorade and it said December 24, 2009. I don't know why it caught my eye but it did. Christmas will be here before you know it and time keeps flying by. Simply enjoy today it is the only guarantee you have...yesterday is a memory, tomorrow is a hope but TODAY is yours.

Something that is difficult for me...random!
We all have things that we wrestle with, that we struggle with. I have not met a perfect person yet without issues? If you meet them..let me know, I would like to shake their hand ! Ha! Ha!
What do I personally wrestle with? If I were going to be completely honest it would be Trusting people to the core and being confident that they really have my back; long term. This truly is difficult for me to do. I think there is an imaginary line (at least in my life) and once it has been crossed so many times it changes you.
Especially in this country, people simply don't understand the word commitment! ( Such a big word...) Commitment. People just freak me out, because everything is disposable these days. Friends, family, parents, kids...our culture is, "My way or the highway!" I have fallen victim to this as well but now I RUN from it and have a hard time reaching out on a certain level because I see it everywhere! New friends can be found, let someone else invest, You hurt me once and I will destroy you, I love you to your face but when you turn around here come the knives. YUCK! It is just a racket! Then I remember...
When I was in High School at a Young Life Camp, I will NEVER forget what a leader told a group of us. He said, "In life, you have to honestly look at each person and say "I don't need you"....(we were all shocked ...'Like, what did he say???')..then he continued...God TRULY is ALL you need and there will be times in your life that he will show you this, so get ready. Then you can appreciate the blessings God brings in your life through other people instead of making other people take the place of God in your walk."
Just a nugget of wisdom passed on in my youth... "Like Totally Rad!" Now, I get it!

Bubble Living!

Do you live in a bubble? Do you know or see the world around you?
I personally live in a bubble that has many layers. The first layer is the United States. There is soooo much more world outside of our borders and the majority of that world is HURTING, HUNGRY, SICK and BROKEN. The seven wealthiest people in the world have the ability to wipe out world hunger COMPLETELY...but don't. 30,000 children die in silence Every day from starvation! God Help us!
The second layer I am aware of is the suburbs. In the suburbs we rarely cross train tracks and we live and give to those similar to us. We isolate ourselves by only investing in like activities. Right in our own neighborhoods people are hurting, hungry, and lost...we just choose not to ask because we might have to get involved.
The third layer is the Christian community...we tend to move in packs and stay with our herd.
The fourth layer is my mind...I block out and choose not to remember or think about those in need! God ...SHAKE ME EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!
We NEED TO STOP COMPLAINING and arguing about silly things in life and WAKE UP! Do you really think God is interested in the fact you have to give up Starbucks right now...give me a break!!!
I want to remember EVERY DAY that there are people hungry , children looking through trash dumps looking for something to eat or sell, people who cant even take one aspirin....God help me..help us to see to look and ACT like the church of JESUS Christ! Someone has to help and it has to be US...We ARE THEY!!!!!!!!!!!! The ones who NEED to do something...God forgive me when I choose not to see...help me be someone who embraces change and Acts on it!
